EFAW and FAW Refresher (1/2 day)

Although an annual refresher is not a legal requirement, the HSE strongly recommends that First Aiders undertake annual refresher training within any three-year certification period of First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work. The First aid refresher course is suitable for those who hold a current FAW and EFAW qualification. Course content; assess the situation in an emergency; treating a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure); cardiopulmonary resuscitation; providing first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding; treating a casualty who is suffering from shock

The HSE Welcomes Defibrillator Awareness Training

In-depth training in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) is not currently part of either the Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work courses.  However, HSE welcomes the presence of awareness training in these courses as it instils greater confidence in the use of AEDs. It is not compulsory for employers to purchase AEDs to comply with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) regulations 1981.  However, if your needs assessment identifies an AED need then the HSE recommend your staff should be fully trained in its use. The Resuscitation Council UK guidance on AEDs is that this equipment is safe to use and can be readily used by untrained bystanders.
