FREE Hands Only CPR sessions

Compression-only CPR, performed by providing continuous chest compressions without stopping to provide ventilations, has been proven effective in treating patients with sudden cardiac arrest. This practice is effective because it circulates unused oxygen left in the patient’s lungs to the body’s vital organs. Although there’s an added benefit in providing rescue breaths, some people may find these hard to do so by performing Hands Only CPR you will still increase a person’s chance of survival and it’s definitely better than doing nothing. CPR Education in Schools

Department for Education plans to introduce CPR training in schools in England from 2020. This decision will undoubtedly save lives as children and young people learn this valuable skill and carry it with them through their lives. The change follows years of tireless campaigning to get first aid and CPR onto the curriculum. Currently less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive a cardiac arrest that occurs out of hospital. Chances of survival can treble if someone having a cardiac arrest is given early CPR and defibrillation.

Health & Safety Statistics 2018

The HSE published online today (31 October) the latest statistics on work-related health and safety in Great Britain, including the following key annual figures (2017/18): 1.4 million working people suffering from work-related ill health 2,595 mesothelioma deaths due to past asbestos exposures (2016) 144 workers killed at work 555,000 injuries occurred at work according to the Labour Force Survey 71,062 injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR 30.7 million working days lost due to work-related ill health and workplace injury £15.0 billion estimated cost of injuries and ill health from current working conditions (2016/17)

Dementia Friends FREE Information Sessions

LifeSaver Training offers FREE Dementia Friends Information Sessions to the public and businesses. Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities. New AED Location Sign & Information Poster

Following extensive research and public consultation, the Resuscitation Council (UK) and the British Heart Foundation have developed a new UK AED location sign and a supporting information poster, the new sign has been accepted by the HSE.  The aim of the new sign and information poster is to ensure that more people understand what AEDs are used for and are encouraged to use them. The new AED location sign makes the following changes to the current one: It changes the lightning bolt icon into a stylised ECG heart trace – respondents overwhelmingly said they would be more likely to use a sign with this icon on.
